CONCEPT
Awakening the six senses—sight, sound, scent, taste, touch, and awareness—
to embrace the moment when body and mind know: you are already fulfilled.

An inner journey, found in the simplicity of Japanese daily life.
6ishiki cherishes the moments of “feeling yourself.”
Within the calm and dignified atmosphere of this 100-year-old traditional house, the mind naturally settles, and awareness gently turns inward.

In the private sauna, there is a unique comfort—an indescribable sense of release—where the space belongs only to you, with no one else around.
We hope that your time here will offer a rare opportunity to turn inward and reconnect with yourself, woven into the rhythm of everyday life.
In Japan, the sauna has roots that trace back to Buddhist purification practices, and today it has evolved into a distinctive culture known as totonou—a state of deep balance and clarity for both body and mind. May you also experience this special harmony during your stay.

6ishiki is a renovated 100-year-old traditional house, originally the birthplace of owner-artist Eikoh Tanaka and left behind by his great-grandfather.
The facility also includes a café that exhibits artworks, and it first began as part of Tanaka’s social practice centered on art and creative projects. Over time, more members have joined, engaging with the local community on a daily basis. Today, 6ishiki aims to serve as a platform for regional revitalization and as a place for creating new forms of value.

The area surrounding 6ishiki and no-mu has been shaped by local redevelopment projects, where many traditional houses have been torn down. Yet, this house has been miraculously preserved. From here, we look ahead to the next hundred years, continuing to develop sustainable and borderless projects that transcend existing categories, envisioning the future of traditional houses.
